My work spans scoring and sound design for films, theatre, sound installations, radio, and podcasts.
I hold a PhD in Composition from the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno. I studied electroacoustic composition with Prof. Jonty Harrison and Prof. Scott Wilson at the University of Birmingham (MA), Sound Arts at the University of Middlesex London (BA Hons), Sound Engineering at the SAE Institute London (DipHE), and completed a one-year postgraduate research internship at the Institute of Sonology at the Royal College of Arts in The Hague.
From 2020 to 2022, I worked as a sound playwright and sound designer for the Emmy-winning Czech production company Bionaut Films. I created the sound design and music for the audiobook series Anatomy of Fear, which won the 2021 Prix Bohemia Radio for Best Documentary and was nominated for Best Sound Design Audiobook of the Year. My other work for Audionaut/Bionaut Films includes the 2021 audiobook Therapy by Sharing: A Guide to Modern Relationships (nominated for Best Sound Design Audiobook of the Year 2021) and the 2021 feature film Runner ("Bėgikė," nominated for Best Sound Design at the Lithuanian Film Awards 2021) by Lithuanian director Andrius Blaževičius.
My most notable and acclaimed artistic achievements include music and sound design for the play Holly Roth for the Slovak National Theatre, collaboration with the Birmingham Ensemble for Electroacoustic Research, and the sound concept, music, and screenplay for the documentary film The Sound Is Innocent, which was screened worldwide and premiered as a nominee in the Burning Lights International Competition at Visions du Réel.
I work closely with Danish radio documentary producer Brit Jensen. Our collaboration has been nominated at numerous international audio festivals, including the Third Coast International Audio Festival in Chicago, Prix Marulic, and Prix Europe, and includes the sound design for the cult podcast Mathematics of Crime (Best Audio Documentary, Prix Bohemia Radio 2020). We have worked with Czech Radio, London's Radio Resonance FM, and BBC Radio.
At the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, I teach sound art in the context of multimedia production. My interests and research include the cultural history of sound design and electroacoustic sound production, the history of electronic music, and, last but not least, the methodology of teaching sound production and popularizing audio culture.
